Thursday, 29 September, 2016

02012016084119manmohan-1000x0A meeting of the Council of Ministers today decided to withdraw the Bill on Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences (MMIHS). Likewise, the meeting endorsed the proposal presented to rename the National Academy of Medical Science (NAMS) as Manomohan Memorial National Academy of Medical Sciences. An emergency meeting of NAMS Senate earlier decided to change its name and sent it to the Cabinet for an approval, according to Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa. The withdrawal of the Bill was one of the demands of senior orthopedic surgeon of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Dr Govinda KC who has been in his ninth fast- onto- death since September 26, putting forth a charter of four point demands meant for reforms in medical sector.
